PRACTITIONER TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION PROGRAM (PT)

The program consists of ten modules which ensure adult learners have access to well trained, certified practitioners who understand the adult learning process and can use appropriate teaching methodologies that address learning barriers. 24 practitioners were certified within the Practitioner Training and Certification Program.

Reviews of our Practitioner Training:

"My approach to teaching has certainly changed as a result of the Practitioner Training program. I now incorporate a lot of new techniques I learned in the program."
"The Practitioner Training Program has allowed me to reflect on my own teaching practices and the needs of my students, and it's helped all of us learn."

PD CONFERENCE FOR PRACTITIONERS

Our two-day Fall PD Conference was held in October 2019 in Truro. The theme was Reducing Barriers, Opening Doors. The program included a keynote, a panel discussion and two plenaries. Fifteen sessions were delivered on topics including math anxiety and learning disabilities, structured reading techniques for struggling learners, equity-centred assessment, human rights education, the online ALP, creating LGBTQ+ friendly classrooms, reducing barriers for ex-offenders, and an information session on the Essential Skills for Atlantic Fisheries Project and the E3.

Review of the PD Conference:

"The variety of topics supporting diversity and inclusion was well done and I learned some valuable things."
